Tama-Ariki is a kaupapa Māori initiative dedicated to the wellbeing of tamariki and whānau across Whangārei and Te Kaipara.

Tama-Ariki was created by Tai Timu Tai Pari, drawing on its deep roots in Te Tai Tokerau and long-standing commitment to supporting whānau through culturally grounded, whānau-centred approaches.
Tama-Ariki builds on this foundation, creating a community-led approach that meetswhānau where they are, responds with manaaki rather than judgement, and strengthens connection and support before concerns reach crisis point.
The name Tama-Ariki speaks to this kaupapa directly. Tama — child. Ariki — the inherent mana, the guiding light, carried within every young person. It is a reminder that the child comes first, always, and that within every tamaiti is a potential worth protecting and growing.
Instead of navigating systems alone, you can come to us to talk things through safely, understand your options, be supported in taking the next step and be connected into the right services if needed.
